2007 ROVING EYE DOCUMENTARY
AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (May 18, 2007)– After a great deal of deliberation and evaluation Festival judges  have announced the top award winners for the 2007 Roving Eye Documentary Film Festival. Awards include the Audience Choice Award, The Roving Eye Doc. Festival Award, Best Cinematography, “Emerging Eye” First Time Director’s and Honorable Mention. The month-long Festival ran from April 18th-May 2nd at locations throughout the state, including: Westerly, Bristol, and Providence.

“Probably the easiest award to determine is the Audience Choice Award, because we let the moviegoers pick their favorite documentary,” commented the festival’s Producing Director Adam Short.  “The quality of films we received this year was excellent and it was no easy decision trying to decide which ones deserved to win. In the end, we selected several films that really stood out and impressed us.

“We congratulate the filmmakers and extend a sincere thanks to our audiences who attended this year’s event.”

This year’s Roving Eye award winners are:

• Audience Choice Award : “Whose Song is This?” Adela Peeva, Director, from Bulgaria.

• Roving Eye Festival Award : “Secret City, ” Keith McDaniel, Director, from USA.

• Best Cinematography Award: “…More than 1,000 Words,” Solo Avital, Director, from Israel.

• “Emerging Eye” First Time Director’s Award: “Andre Dubus,” Edward Delaney, Director, from Rhode Island, USA

• Honorable Mention “Calvin’s World,” Lauren Kinsler and Judi Stroh, Directors, from USA.

Winners of the Festival Award and the “Emerging Eye” Award will receive copies of Media Services’ “Showbiz Budgeting” software—designed to create and maintain any type of budget from films, docs, commercials, to still photography.

The Roving Eye Documentary Film Festival will return in the Fall 2007 with a new roster of work from emerging film artists. Details will be announced during the annual Rhode Island International Film Festival, August 7-12th.
